It has been over six months since we began our downsizing project of 154 Front Street. Starting in December of 2012, we have been searching for new apartments for our residents to open our supervised apartment program. In addition to the apartments, many hours were spent locating, purchasing and renovating the first of the nine new group homes.

In March of 2013, we were licensed for 6 individuals to move from their current residences to the supervised apartment program. Shortly after in April, we were licensed to move the 6 additional individuals. All 12 of them have been excited about their transition into this program and have adapted very well.

Additionally, other individuals have also transitioned into the vacancies left in our current group homes.

Our next step is to open two more group homes in Edison and North Plainfield by mid-summer 2013. The homes have already been purchased and are currently being renovated and retrofitted to accommodate the State’s requirements and should be opening very soon.

We are currently on schedule to open the third new group home by Fall 2013.

It is an incredibly exciting time since we are now seeing the fruits of many months of labor making this project a reality. We believe that the individuals will be better served and supported in the new smaller programs. We are experiencing some growing pains but these pains will only benefit the individuals we serve and support.

Of course, we continue to look to bring on board new additional staff that are looking to make a difference in the lives of the people we serve.

Furthermore, we have recently launched a new mobile website. This mobile website will help all of our parents and staff stay in better communication with Keystone. To view the new mobile website, open your Internet browser on your smartphone or tablet and simply enter our web address www.keystonecomliving.com and you will be taken to the mobile version of our website.
